Linda
Sanner was a sophomore at Stranahan the year we graduated.
She recalls that one day toward the end of the 1965 school
year, she noticed some photographs that had been thrown away
in a classroom trash can. With great foresight, she recovered as
many as she could and took them home with her. As she looked
through the pictures, she saw a few familiar faces and
decided to put the entire lot in a scrapbook. With all the
moves Linda made after high school, the scrapbook was always
with her.
FAST FORWARD 42 YEARS:
Today, Linda owns and operates a restaurant in the beautiful
resort town of Helen, Georgia. One day a classmate
stopped by the restaurant for a surprise visit and told her about
our
Stranahan website. At that moment it was realized a
home for the scrapbook had been found. Linda got in touch
and arrangements were made to send the book to me.

If
you have a copy of the 1965 El Pasado, the
above pictures should be familiar to you!
These are, no doubt, the photos used for the
original lay-out of our yearbook! |

A few days later the package arrived. I
couldn't believe my eyes when I examined
the contents! I recognized many of the
pictures as those appearing in our yearbook: Barbara Kelly
& Curt Hoffmeyer (page 259); Lonna Reimers knitting(page
139); and Mike Murphy playing the organ (page 178), just to
mention a few. No doubt,
these are the pictures that were used for the layout of our
yearbook! Further supporting evidence can be seen
by the numbers penciled on the back of each photo. They correspond to the page on which they appear! |

This picture
of Sue Barnett playing the piano appears on page 144 of our
yearbook. |

The reverse
side of the same photograph clearly shows the page
assignment. |

The entire
collection will be on display at our 60th
Birthday Party. If you should see one of special
significance, it's yours for the taking.
The inventory
includes: Senior Class photos, Junior Class photos,
Sophomore Class photos, faculty photos, candid "about
campus" photos, etc. All pictures have been scanned
and cataloged.
We are
indeed indebted to Linda Sanner for donating these pictures
to our class. If you're ever in Helen, Georgia stop by
Aint
B's Bakery and say hello!

Sandy Bird
on her unicycle - a picture that didn't make the final cut!
There is a similar picture of Sandy on page 145, probably
taken the same day since she is wearing the same outfit. |
