On Friday, May 28, 2021, Bob Brenner, adoring husband
and loving father of six children and seven
grandchildren, passed away at home at the age of 74. Big
Bob was born on January 12, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio to
Milton and Betty Brenner. He grew up in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida and was a standout athlete, lettering in
football, basketball and baseball. He received an
invitation from Major League Baseball requesting that he
enter the draft, but Bob decided instead to play
football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in
Winston-Salem. Bob played tight end for the Demon
Deacons and received his Bachelor of Science in 1970. On
July 15, 1974, he married the love of his life, Snow
Warner Brenner. Bob worked in the furniture industry for
47 years and begrudgingly retired in 2019. Bob loved
traveling the state and spending time with his furniture
friends and clients. Bob was active in his community,
serving as an Elder and a Deacon at Forest Hill
Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday School classes,
serving on the Board of the Irish Children's Summer
Program, and helping host homeless families from the
community. If there was a volunteer opportunity, Bob was
your man. Big Bob |
loved spending time with his
family, watching his grandchildren play, telling dirty
jokes, cheering on his Demon Deacons and laughing with
his family and friends. He was happiest at the beach
playing with his family in the sand and waves or in
Montreat on the deck overlooking the Blue Ridge
Mountains. Big Bob loved nothing more than an evening at
home playing cards with his family, but you had to watch
him closely because he was an expert cheat. Whenever
asked how he was doing, he always answered, "Never
Better." Bob was known for his easy smile and laughter
and his kind, generous and compassionate spirit. Bob was
the patriarch of a large extended family and always
cried through his prayers and blessings. Bob was
preceded in death by his father, Milton Brenner and his
mother, Betty Brenner. Big Bob is survived by his wife,
Snow Warner Brenner; his six children, Anthony
(Jennifer) Brenner- children, Bailey & Avery,
Christopher Brenner, Snow (Chris) Daws- children, Snow &
Wren, Wich (Ashlee) Brenner- son, Bobby, Dane (Nicki)
Brenner- children, Hayes & Ely, and Seth Brenner.
