Carol and I were best friends “to the end”.  I am Lois Cantor Duperault.  Carol and I attended Rogers Junior High and Stranahan Senior High School together.  We parted (physically) when I married after graduation and moved from Pompano Beach to Jacksonville Beach (where I still reside).  Carol and I had incredibly fun times together in high school.  We posed for the Lauderdale newspaper in front of the totem pole at the Tiki Restaurant on Federal Highway in our bikinis!!  Another “prank” was when we drove to Miami one night and “barged” in to the local radio station and the DJ put us on the radio!!  I wish I could remember the station call letters.  I also remember that for the big Christmas dance, we decided not to go with dates (we probably weren’t asked!!) but decided to go as “Holiday Doobies”.  My grandmother made our elf costumes and we went around serving our friends!  It was great.  We wore holes in our little felt elf shoes.  

But probably the funniest (and meanest) thing we did (this was all Carol’s idea J) was one time when my sister Judy (Cantor) and I spent the night at Carol and her sister Nancy Norton’s house.   The next morning Carol found a dead roach and put it inside a cinnamon bun and handed it to  my sister Judy (without her knowing).  I screamed so loud just before Judy took a bite!!!  Judy is still mad at me!

The last time I saw Carol on this side of heaven was at her 50^th birthday party at her home just outside of Atlanta, Ga.  She fought a brave and ‘faithfilled’ battle with breast cancer.  The Lord allowed Carol to stay 10 or 11 years after she had been diagnosed.  I miss her so much.  She and I always talked about  being ‘friends to the end”….and we were.  I look forward to the day I will see her again!  Carol was such a good friend and encourager and always made me laugh.  I am sure she and the Lord and all those that have gone on before us are having a great time!!
