Broward County schools closed this Thurs., Fri. because of hurricane Matthew, so the SHS, South Broward football game will not be played this week. Today I lowered my awnings, the same ones I lowered in 1965 because of hurricane Betsy, time marches on and still some things never change. If the Lords willing and the creek (or canals) don't rise, see you next week....Ray

YIKES..........51-0 we got trounced by American Heritage last Friday (Sept. 30) in an away game. it was Homecoming for our opponent. everytime they scored, they fired off a small cannon, you can guess how many times I had to hear it, poor play calling and a fast smothering defense did us in on this game. Overall record is now 2-3.Next week.South Broward.........Ray

SHS is back on the winning track, defeating Northeast HS by a score of 32-6. It was 16-0 at halftime. NE scored in the 3rd quarter, then was stopped on a 2 point conversion. SHS scored in the 3rd and 4th quarter, going 4-4 on 2 point conversions for the game. With two minutes left in the game the stands and field were cleared because of lightning in the area. Both coaches agreed to end the game at that point SHS is now 1-1 in conference. Next weeks game is against American Heritage. See you next week sports fans..................Ray

9-16-16, Friday night, S. Plantation field (our home field) The Dragons took on Hallandale in our first conference game...............it wasn't pretty. the defense looked pretty good in the first half. There were a lot of great individual effort by a few players, but as a team we haven't jelled yet. the season is young and this team does have potential. The cheerleaders looked great in their new uniforms and the band sounded good..Oh yea the score was 42-7 Hallandale won. Next week Northeast on Thurs. night. Until then
Overall, 1-2, conference 0-1.........Go Dragons

Week two, SHS Football is off and running, after losing to Dillard last week, the offence really opened up and beat Monarch High by a whopping score of 48-2. Both games have been non-conf. so no real standings to report yet. Great offence and stingy defense what more could we ask for. See you next week.Cub Sports reporter Ray H.
