Just wanted to say hi to all my fellow Dragons from the class of '65. Have had some rough times over recent years, health-wise, but since retirement in '09 things are looking great. Married recently to Corinne "Missy" Engels from Delray, class of '65 and we've discovered that travelling and cruising should have come as a graduation present. See ya on the high seas !!!

Charley, thank's for taking the time and effort to pass this information on to Wayne's family. I hope this will help to add some additional closure to an unfortunate era of our past. Thank's again to you and Wayne for your service and sacrifices !

Bob,
I need to tell you that I did talk to Deborah yesterday and it was a good call. She had only heard a couple of rumors as to how Wayne was burned and both were totally untrue. I told her the real story, without the parts that probably would have upset her. She was very appreciative and very glad to hear the real story. I am glad I called her and only wish that I had done it 43 years ago. She heard that Wayne was wounded the day he died and then was told the next day that he had died. I am really surprised that someone in our unit, like the Captain, didn't contact her at all. I gave her my email and phone number in case she had any questions in the future.
Thanks for making this connection for me. Speaking to someone in the Thomas family has been something I have wanted to do for a long, long time. Thanks goodness for the internet.

I just recently found this website & have read & looked at just about all there is to see. Really interesting & brings back a lot of memories including 3 years at Rogers Jr High & Mrs. Ripley's 6th grade class at Southside. Graham runs a fantastic website. Best wishes to all you Dragons!

Happy birthday to Mollie Sue Hammond! I remember how your birthday tended to get overlooked during the Christmas holidays. Some things never change! I hope you enjoyed your special day!

Happy New Year to the Class of 65! I recently spent several days in Ft. Lauderdale during Florida's coldest weather in nearly 50 years and then returned to South Carolina just in time for a "White Christmas." While in Ft. Lauderdale I enjoyed a fun afternoon sharing memories with our classmate Bill Behrens. May you all be blest with the happiest and most prosperous of New Years!

I hope all had a wonderful Christmas Season and are moving into a new year with health and love. Heartfelt thanks to those of our "family" that are serving and have served to protect us in our Armed Forces. We are forever grateful. My friends we have come a long way together and we will continue on the journey together. How lucky we are that those bonds formed all so many years ago can still bring us together in mind, spirit and person. We are strong. We are the Love Generation. We are DRAGONS! Keep on "Dragon" into 2011 and beyond. Peace and Love HAPPY NEW YEAR !

A Happy New Year to all Dragons near and far. There is nothing better than to have your family close during the Christmas Holiday Season and at the turn of the New Year and especially for those of us with Military members, both active and retired, who "soldier on" when our beloved are on station. Wishing eveyone a safe and peaceful 2011.
