Well...….The playoffs ended on a sour note for the Mighty Dragons. A 63-0 loss for our team. Yes we were beaten by a very great team. Miami Northwestern has been the State Champions in the 7-A division in the past. But let me say this, It was 54-0 late in the 3rd quarter and after scoring a TD, Miami went for a 2 point conversion. To me that shows very little CLASS and very little if no sportsmanship. Running up the score is the rule now instead of the exception in high school sports now a days. St. Thomas does it all the time and they are a state and national powerhouse. Sound like sour grapes, yes I guess so. But I am so proud of what our team accomplished this year and I'm still proud to be called a Dragon. Hats off to our Football team this year. Last report for this year. Cub sports reporter Ray Heaton Jr.

HERE IS WHY IM A CUB SPORTS REPORTER !!! I WAS SCOOPED BY THE SUN-SENTINEL. In this mornings paper in the sports section, it said we were in the playoffs this week against Miami Northwestern HS. I made a quick call to the SHS athletic director, Thomas Harrison and he explained to me why. Our 6-4 record made us a 7th seed in the 5-A, Region 4. In laymens terms its not just having to finish 1st or second in your district to make the playoffs anymore. They take into consideration, W-L record and strength of opponents in a point system. So this Saturday at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami 7PM, The Mighty Dragons are in the playoffs.

Last years 22-0 loss has been redeemed, with a 28-23 win over cross town rival Fort Lauderdale High, the Mighty dragons closed out their season in a big way. It is always a good season if we beat the L's It was 20-17 in favor of the Dragons at the end of the third quarter. A very exciting fourth quarter and "come on " from both sides of the field. The nighty Dragons finished 6-4 for the year, finishing 3rd in our District. One game out of 2nd. The loss to N. Miami Beach making the difference between 2nd and 3rd place. So our final ranking look pretty good. Nationally we finished 1,536 not to bad when you figure all the high schools in the U.S.A. In all of Florida we were 119th, and in all of Florida's 5-A rankings we were 20th. So we close out another year of high School football for the Mighty Dragons.
So Long for now, cub sports reporter, Ray heaton Jr.
