The Mighty Dragons are the new State Champions of 6A basketball in Florida. They beat Lakewood by the score of 63-54. The score was SHS 33, Lakewood 26 at the half, still leading 45-40 at the end of the 3rd quarter, and outscored them in the 4th quarter 18-14. The Class of 65 salutes you on your team effort, you have put a lot of smiles on some old people, who still think young. You have made us a lil prouder to be DRAGONS.......From thee skill and science flow, Go Dragons !!!!!!!!

Tonight: 3/6/2019 the SHS Varsity Basketball team beat Brooksville Nature Coast Tech HS 76-45 to advance to the 6A State Championship game against Lakewood from St. Petersburg, Fl. , tomorrow night in Lakeland, Fl. The last time the Dragons made it to the state finals was in 1959. Lakewood comes in with a 27-3 record while the Dragons are 26-6. The Sun-Sentinel has called this a historically great season for the Dragons. The Dragons are rated No.1 in 6A in the state, 14th overall in the state and 369th in the nation.....Go Dragons.....cub sports reporter Ray Heaton Jr.

Homecoming.2018, was on our home field, at half-time it was 0-0,everyone was full of hope, after three quarters it was 0-0. Then the 4th quarter started and at the end of the game................Lauderdale 22, SHS 0. Its been a long tough season as a fan, but to the guys on the squad, I'd like to say Thank You for all you tried to do. Going out every week, putting on the uniform and doing your best, never stopping until the game ended.
This will be my last report for the year. and as Gordon Sole would say after Wrestling on TV, "So long from the Sunshine State. and remember the famous words of George Longus "There's always next year"

The Dragons have lost another game. the Cardinal Gibbons HS won by a score of 38-6. That makes the Dragons 1-8 so far this season. BUT, the whole season can be saved in our final game against cross town rival, The Low Flying L's. It's always a good season if we can beat the L's. This year the L's are having a good season going 7-2, have scored 190 points and allowed 144 points scored against them. The Dragons will have to work for this win. The Dragon offense has averaged only 8.2 points per game. The L's are averaging 21 points per game. The stats age against us, but remember, ON ANY GIVEN Day...............lets go Dragons

Last Friday was more of the same for the Dragons. A 48-0 loss to the Coconut Creek Cougars. The Dragons are now 1-7. This weeks game is against the Cardinal Gibbons team that is 6-2 overall, ranked 17th overall in Florida and 5th in all 5A division teams in Florida. Their record is 6-2. This is a home conference game for our Dragons. Game to be played at S. Plantation HS field. So far the Dragon offence has scored a total of 68 points, the defense has given up 253 points. Yes its been a rough season, but looking back at our schedule, this is one of the toughest we have faced in a few years. October 26th is our next game, then the low Flying L's for Homecoming on November 2. This has been a rough year of reporting, and YES I'm still a loyal, proud Dragon alumni. SHS took it on the chin again, losing to Miami Jackson last Thurs. night. The score was 38-0. The Dragons are now 1-6 overall. This week we play Coconut Creek, who last week beat Blanche Ely 43-18 to end their three game losing streak. So its time to circle the wagons and regroup and cheer our Dragons on to VICTORY. The Dragons did lose to American Heritage this weekend, but it wasn't as bad as last year. the score was 25-0 at the half. the Dragon offense couldn't do much against a very tough defense. We did score late in the game, went for a two point conversion and failed. the final score was 39-6. The Dragons are now 1-5 overall.
Next week we play Miami Jackson, both teams are 0-2 in League play. Jackson is 3-3 overall. Next game is on Oct. 12, a home- conference game for the Dragons......Go Dragons......

Alas last weekend, their was no joy in Muddvile, the mighty dragons have struck out, ( See Casey at the bat for the analogy) The Dillard Panthers put it to the Mighty Dragons last weekend in a 20-6 loss for our team. The Dragons are now 1-4 . This week doesn't look good either. We play American Heritage, who are rated the 6th best football team in all of Florida AND 50th best in the USA. Last years score was a 52-0 loss to this team. But remember on any given day....so we wish the team all the best...and remember its not whether you win or lose, its how you play the game.Go Dragons........from the sports desk. Ray Heaton jr.
